The 40th Anniversary of ALIENS will receive the George Pal Memorial Award, which will be accepted by Academy Award-winning director James Cameron and producer Gale Anne Hurd. Named for visionary producer George Pal, whose classic science-fiction achievements, such as The War of the Worlds and The Time Machine, helped define cinematic spectacle, the George Pal Memorial Award is presented to individuals or films that “reflect exemplary genre filmmaking.”
ALIENS has spawned its own mythology and universe of films and stories, and has been groundbreaking – not just in science fiction, but in all of filmmaking. Fellow Oscar-winning director Guillermo Del Toro will present the award to the creative team with cast members including Carrie Henn, Michael Biehn, Ricco Ross, Jenette Goldstein, Mark Rolston, and Cynthia Scott in attendance to join the tribute. Matt Winston will attend and accept on behalf of his father, Academy Award-winning Stan Winston, the film’s Special Effects Makeup Creator and Creature Effects Supervisor.
