James Cameron and Jon Landau add handprints & footprints to Hollywood's historic TCL Chinese Theatre

from dailymail.co.uk

Three-time Oscar winner James Cameron gave his frequent onscreen muse Sigourney Weaver a kiss on the cheek during his handprints and footprints ceremony at Hollywood's historic TCL Chinese Theatre on Thursday.

The Manhattan-born 73-year-old famously scored her first Oscar nomination after the Canadian 68-year-old directed her in his 1986 cinematic classic Aliens before they collaborated together on five Avatar films.

Sigourney (born Susan) dressed her statuesque 5ft10in figure in a pink pantsuit to speak at the event alongside her Avatar castmate Stephen Lang dressed in head-to-toe black attire.

James was honored at the red carpet ceremony alongside his frequent producer, Jon Landau, wearing a colorful button-up with grey pants and sneakers.

The silver-haired moviemakers - who first worked together on Titanic in 1996 - signed their names before placing their hands in the wet cement for prosperity.

Cameron and the New York-born 62-year-old then flashed their muddy palms just like Gentlemen Prefer Blondes stars Marilyn Monroe and Jane Russell had done 70 years earlier on the same spot

Decades before Chinese electronics manufacturer TCL Corporation bought the 932-seat movie palace in 2013, it was known as Grauman's Chinese Theatre, which was the first commercial movie theater to have air conditioning.

James and Jon's cement blocks will soon join the other 200 stars and power players already encased on the theater's forecourt.

The TCL Chinese Theatre is located in front of the Hollywood Walk of Fame where Cameron received his very own star back in 2009.

The talented twosome's latest offering Avatar: The Way of the Water has amassed $1.752B at the global box office, and received a 77% critic approval rating (out of 406 reviews) on Rotten Tomatoes.

The 56-year-old SAG Award nominee famously played Rose's (Kate Winslet) underhanded, abusive fiancé Caledon Hockley in the $2.195B-grossing blockbuster.

And while none of James' six children were present, Landau was supported there by his wife Julie and two sons - Jodie and Jamie.

Generations old and new can catch the 25th anniversary re-release of Titanic, screened in 3D 4K HDR with high-frame rate, starting February 10 in theaters.

The $200M-budget romantic disaster flick starring Oscar winners Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet wound up winning 11 Academy Awards in 1998, including best picture and best director.
